Understanding the Quantum Cybersecurity Risk: U.S. Government Guidance Toward Building Quantum Resiliency

The quantum computing threat is a clear and imminent danger, having the potential to completely disrupt all secured data, information systems and infrastructure. As we enter the quantum computing era, adopting a post-quantum crypto-agile encryption posture should be one of the top priorities agencies adopt and employ to fortify their proactive stance in cybersecurity.

During this webinar, attendees learned about quantum computing power and the threat quantum computers pose to our current cryptographic systems. John Leiseboer, Chief Technology Officer and Co-Founder of QuintessenceLabs, and Bob Gourley, Chief Technology Officer of OODA LLC, reviewed the measures both industry and government agencies are taking to mitigate the quantum computing threat through the use of new and advanced technologies, NIST approved encryption algorithms and U.S. government directives and initiatives.

Key takeaways included:

  • An overview of the state of quantum computing and data security today
  • Plotting a pathway to crypto-agility and quantum resilience
    • Quantum Resistant Algorithms (QRA)
    • Post-Quantum Crypto-Agile Key Management (PQC KMS)
    • Quantum Random Number Generation (QRNG)
    • Quantum Key Distribution (QKD)
  • Following the U.S. government guidance for post-quantum cryptography
