WCO IT Conference and Exhibition 2013 Announces Day 2 and 3 Agenda

WAM Dubai. The 2013 WCO IT Conference and Exhibition 2013, themed "Effective Solutions for Coordinated Border Management" today announced the agenda and names of speakers for day 2 and 3 of the event.The conference will be held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and attended by HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior. Running from 14 - 16 May at Atlantis - The Palm in Dubai, the conference will host 19 activities that will discuss ways to facilitate legitimate trade, border security, and customs coordination between countries.

Day 2 of the WCO IT Conference and Exhibition 2013 will commence with an opening speech from Brian Moran, Global Managing Director of Accenture, and a keynote speech from Des Vertannes, Global Head of Cargo, International Air Transport Association (IATA).Subsequently, a session titled 'A National Perspective' will take centre stage at the event. Moderated by Johnathan Koh, Director, Trade Facilitation Centre of Excellence, CrimsonLogic, the session will deliberate on the approach of coordinated border management. The session will host experts from prominent global border agencies and related authorities including Pablo Castellvi, Deputy Director General of Planning, Federal Administratorof Public Revenues (AFIP), Argentina; Mohammed Al Haif, Director of Customs Union Department, GCC; Freek Van Zoeren, Deputy Inspector General, Netherlands Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA), and Tim Chapman, First Assistant Secretary, Australian Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF).The session will be followed by a roundtable discussion titled 'Facilitation through Business Integration' that will examine the difference in the way businesses work with customs organisations as compared to other border agencies.Day 3 of the WCO IT Conference and Exhibition 2013 will see Dr Anwar Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, United Arab Emirates, deliver the opening speech.

The first session on Day 3 titled 'The Human Factor' will discuss information technology's capability to resolve challenges in establishing close coordination amongst border agencies including customs.

The conference will conclude with a roundtable discussion titled 'How can Customs, Government and Private Sector Work Together to Integrate and Secure the International Trade Supply Chain?'. Facilitated by Roberto Tavano, VP Global Security Sales, Technology, Consulting and Integration Services, UNISYS Corporation, the roundtable will feature His Excellency Ahmed bin Ali Al Mohannadi General Director of Qatar's General Administration of Customs; Sameer Mubarak, Business Development Director, Nafith; Tom Barnes, CEO, Integration Point, Inc; Ercan Saka, Nuclear Trade Analyst, International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and David Avsec, Deputy Director, Postal Technology Center, Universal Postal Union (UPU).

The WCO IT Conference and Exhibition 2013, organized by Dubai Customs, marks its debut in the Middle East under the theme 'Effective Solutions for Coordinated Border Management'. The event is expected to witness the participation of more than 800 international, regional and local personalities representing the World Customs Organization and customs departments of more than 100 countries.
