Congressional, Industry and Government Leaders to Discuss Today's Top Contracting Challenges, Opportunities
Herndon, VA--The Partnership for Procurement Excellence (PPE) today announced the keynote speakers for its annual Multiple Award Government and Industry Conference (MAGIC), to include the Honorable Gerald Connolly (D-VA); Thomas Sharpe, Commissioner of the General Services Administration's (GSA) Federal Acquisition Service (FAS); and Mike McConnell, Vice Chairman of Booz Allen Hamilton and former Director of National Intelligence. MAGIC 2013 will be held July 10-12 at the Hilton Alexandria Mark Center in Alexandria, VA.
"With the rapid development of multiple award contracts (MACs), attendees will hear the latest news on these vehicles, as well as the market realities and policy developments that are driving and shaping them," said Barbara Kinosky, President, Centre Consulting, and a member of the PPE Board of Directors. "Our keynote speakers offer unique insight on government acquisition, including current and proposed contracting opportunities."
GSA's Sharpe will deliver the pre-conference dinner keynote, his presentation coinciding with the announcement of the inaugural MAGIC Acquisition Excellence Award winners. These awards recognize individuals throughout government and industry whose contributions to government-wide acquisition contracts (GWACs) or MACs have advanced the federal government's mission in efficient, cost effective ways. Kicking off the main program, Congressman Connolly will provide the opening keynote, giving a congressional perspective on technology and acquisition reform. Mr. McConnell will deliver the luncheon keynote focusing on the challenges in cybersecurity strategies and the benefits of proactive monitoring.
MAGIC 2013 also features sessions dedicated to updates on specific GWACs and MACs. Program managers from popular multiple award vehicles, including NITAAC's CIO-SP3 and ECS III, NASA SEWP V, GSA Alliant and GSA OASIS, will provide status updates as well as a glimpse into the future of the acquisition landscape.

About MAGIC
The second annual Multiple-Award Government and Industry Conference (MAGIC) provides a one-of-a-kind venue where leaders from the major GWACs and MACS, GSA and VA Schedules, as well as senior government procurement and technology executives and contracting officers join industry partners to share their insights, plans and best practices to help agencies access the technologies they need to deliver their mission. The event is a dedicated opportunity to discuss what budget cuts mean to the federal contracting environment, provide an update on the growth in small business wins in GWACs and MACs, how technology-as-a-service may transform the face of MACs and address what the impact of new strategic sourcing and vendor "standardization" programs mean to federal procurement.
