The Cloud’s Role in Public Safety & Emergency Management (Day 2)

When a disaster strikes, the infrastructure needed to support recovery usually is hit hard, as well. Tornados take down cell towers, buildings, tear up roads; floods damage water treatment plants, homes, bridges; wildfires destroy everything in their path. First responders – the people going into harm’s way to save people and property – need as much information as possible about the conditions they will face.

The U.S. Fire Administration, for instance, has created the National Emergency Response Information System “to provide reliable predictive analytics to support enhanced preparedness and response to various incidents, including wildfires, community risk reduction efforts, and future pandemics.”

Learning Objectives:

  • Define resilience for your agency and the communities it serves
  • Outline what your agency requires to foster resilience and improve recovery outcomes
  • Delineate the role that data analytics plays in bringing about positive outcomes, for people and businesses alike
