Unifying Data for Public Safety & National Security
Federal, state, and local governments, public safety agencies and the national intelligence community (IC) have different but parallel needs for timely, accurate information about individuals, organizations and conditions that pose a threat. Public safety agencies, already drowning in terabytes of data, are pioneering the application of data analytics to video. For the IC, the rapid changes shaking the international power structure require innovative technologies that can supplement a shrinking workforce.
These two communities are wrestling with the opportunities and challenges of incorporating AI into their systems. They face questions in common, such as:
- What does modern public safety or modern intelligence work look like when data and AI are done right?
- What role does AI-powered search play in helping officers or analysts turn raw footage into actionable insights?
- What shifts in terms of cultural, technical or policies need to happen in order to fully integrate better data analytics?
Learning Objectives:
- Outline ways that agencies at the federal, state and local levels can use AI-enabled search and AI-based analytics to help human analysts unify dozens of systems to support timely decision-making
- Evaluate the future of officer support and situational awareness in an AI-based surveillance and response environment
- Delineate methods to consolidate current tools in use to reduce complexity, costs, and response time
