From Wallets to Warfighters: Unmasking Cartel Networks Through Blockchain and Malware Intelligence

SpyCloud and Carahsoft are excited to invite you to join us for our SOF Week 2026 Executive Briefing Series!
Drug cartels increasingly rely on cryptocurrency, encrypted platforms and online services to finance and coordinate operations across borders. While these tools promise anonymity, they also create persistent digital traces that can be exploited to expose the individuals and infrastructure behind cartel activity.
This presentation demonstrates how investigators can combine SpyCloud’s recaptured identity intelligence – sourced from darknet breaches, malware infections and successful phishes – with Chainalysis’ blockchain intelligence to move beyond anonymous cryptocurrency wallets and attribute financial activity to real-world actors.
By fusing financial tracing with malware-derived telemetry and exposed credentials, investigators can pivot from blockchain transactions to infected endpoints, operational accounts and digital identities tied to cartel facilitators. This approach enables analysts to illuminate the hidden nodes that support cartel logistics, finance and coordination across the digital ecosystem.
Attendees will see how fragmented digital signals – blockchain transactions, malware logs, credential exposures and online service usage – can be correlated to build actionable intelligence on transnational criminal networks.
The result is a repeatable investigative methodology for following illicit financial flows, unmasking the individuals behind them and identifying high-value cartel enablers – often without relying on traditional SIGINT collection.
