George W. Thompson
His practice covers antidumping and countervailing duty cases before the Commerce Department and International Trade Commission, customs classification, FTA qualification, valuation, drawback, and penalty matters. He also handles product origin issues under the Buy American Act, Trade Agreements Act, and FTC labeling requirements.
On the export controls side, Thompson provides full-service representation under State, Commerce, and Treasury Department regulations — including USML classifications, license applications, technology control plans, and enforcement proceedings. He has helped companies ranging from Fortune 500 firms to sole proprietorships build and maintain export compliance programs.
Prior to private practice, he served in the Office of General Counsel at the U.S. International Trade Commission (1987–1993), represented the U.S. before GATT, and provided legal assistance to the U.S. Trade Representative.
