Aerospace Medical Association
The Aerospace Medical Association is organized exclusively for charitable, educational, and scientific purposes. It is the largest, most-representative professional membership organization in the fields of aviation, space, and environmental medicine. AsMA is an umbrella group providing a forum for many different disciplines to come together and share their expertise for the benefit of all persons involved in air and space travel. The Association has provided its expertise to a multitude of Federal and international agencies on a broad range of issues, including aviation and space medical standards, the aging pilot, and physiological stresses of flight. AsMA's membership includes aerospace medicine specialists, flight nurses, physiologists, psychologists, human factors specialists, and researchers in this field. Most are with industry, civil aviation regulatory agencies, departments of defense and military services, the airlines, space programs, and universities. Approximately 25% of the membership originates from outside the USA. Through the efforts of the AsMA members, safety in flight and man's overall adaptation to adverse environments have been more nearly achieved.

Upcoming Aerospace Medical Association Events

The Care in the Air Symposium explores the multi-faceted nature of providing care in challenging and harsh environments. The 2026 theme “Austere Medical Response: Surviving a Bad Day” focuses on delivering life-saving care when resources are scarce, conditions are unpredictable, and time is critical.
This 2nd annual symposium will showcase innovations and practical strategies for providing care in extreme and isolated settings, focusing on three core topics of: wilderness medicine, disaster medicine, and cutting-edge research and updates on utilizing blood products for resuscitation in remote environments. Sessions will resonate with aeromedical care providers and extend to a wide variety of disciplines including those working in remote communities or practicing wilderness, disaster, aviation, or aerospace medicine.
Explore how to make critical decisions under pressure, adapt to resource constraints, and leverage technology to deliver care in the most challenging circumstances. Uncover new ideas, innovative tools, and evidence-based approaches to optimize care when every second counts.
Who Should Attend?
Symposium programming will be of interest to:
- Health professionals and researchers working in aerospace medicine, critical care medicine, emergency medicine, trauma care, wilderness medicine, or occupational medicine
- Air ambulance, paramedic, and critical care transport medicine professionals
- Military and civilian aviation medicine personnel
- Entrepreneurs developing technologies with healthcare application
- Students interested in learning about, and networking with, experts working in these fields

The primary objective of the joint Aerospace Medical Association and Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Annual Scientific Meeting is to share and disseminate scientific information across the pressure spectrum from sea to air to space. The meeting content is designed from prior evaluations, expert opinions, periodic surveys, and accepted abstracts. The joint meeting provides the latest results in sessions designed for aerospace, undersea, and hyperbaric medicine professionals under ONE roof. The scientific program will benefit physicians, academics, residents, medical and graduate students, and advanced undergraduates interested in aerospace, undersea, and hyperbaric medicine. Professional development and the other core competencies, as outlined by the American Board of Preventive Medicine and the American Board of Emergency Medicine, will be highlighted throughout the meeting. Continuing education credits are available for participants. The AsMA and UHMS are international in both membership and scope of interest, providing opportunities to connect and exchange ideas with some of the world’s foremost medical specialists and internationally renowned scientists in the fields of Aerospace and Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine and Human Performance. If you are interested in the multi-disciplinary approach to working with humans along the full pressure continuum and challenging environments, whether as a physician, physiologist, researcher, engineer, technician, nurse, student, or pilot. You should be one of us!
Aerospace, Undersea, and Hyperbaric medicine are truly multi-disciplinary and international. Our Annual Scientific Meeting presentations come from diverse experts who will enhance the world’s knowledge and understanding of the current challenges in Aerospace, Undersea, and Hyperbaric Medicine and demonstrate an impact on improving the health, safety, and human performance of those involved in aviation, space, clinical hyperbaric medicine, undersea and extreme environments. Our Annual Scientific Meeting presents an opportunity to learn about the work of our colleagues worldwide and share the knowledge and wisdom we gain in our day-to-day work and practice.
