Government agencies at all levels are under pressure to modernize their IT infrastructure to meet the evolving needs and expectations of their customers, stakeholders, and employees. The ubiquity of smart phones and tailored apps in the broader world have raised user expectations for government systems to work the same way.
Modernization certainly presents a host of opportunities to improve agencies’ performance, but it comes with its own set of challenges – such as managing complexity, ensuring reliability, and maintaining security. To overcome these challenges, agencies need to adopt a holistic approach to observability, which encompasses monitoring, analysis, and performance improvements, availability, and security for their IT systems and services.
Learning Objectives:
- Define observability and how it differs from monitoring
- Identify ways to standardize apps and tools for ease of use and faster learning
- Delineate metrics to measure the effect of modernization on measures such as productivity and cost containment
