Accelerating Investigations and Increasing Case Close Rates with AI

This event qualifies for 1 CPEs

One of the main goals of law enforcement agencies is to catch and prosecute those who have committed crimes of any sort. After all the evidence of a crime has been collected for review, the real hard work begins as investigators begin to sift through the mounds of physical and digital evidence. As they do this, they try to search and locate key artifacts that will assist them in identifying the suspect(s), the motive(s), and any other critical information, helping them lead to an arrest and prove their case in a court of law.

While crime rates have been slightly declining in the last few years, agencies are still trying to find ways to efficiently increase their case clearance rates to address their backlog and keep up with new crimes. According to a July 2024 Statista Report, in the year 2022, homicide-related case close rates across the US were at 52.3%. This was then followed by aggravated assaults at 41.4%, then violent crimes at 36.7%. Rounding towards the bottom of the list were property crimes at a staggering 12.1%.

So, how can an agency improve its crime clearance rates?
